Acer debuts low-cost Chromebox CXI PC line


Taiwan-based hardware maker Acer on Thursday announced the Chromebox CXI, a desktop computer experience powered by Google Chrome OS.Aimed at business and school environments, the device features HDMI, DisplayPort output, four USB 3.0 ports, and 2GB RAM.

The Chromebox CXI is powered by Intel’s Celeron 2957U processor and is designed to sit upright in a vertical position. Pricing is listed at $279; a 4GB RAM version will retail for $219. Additional specifications include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n), Gigabit Ethernet, an SD card reader.

The Acer Chromebox CXI series is easy to use. After the user signs into Chrome with a Google account, they’re immediately immersed in the Google ecosystem and signed into Google services. Their bookmarks, history and settings are synced across all of their devices and computers running Chrome.

Availability of the Chromebox CXI is listed at late September.
