After weeks of speculaton that Amazon were working on a set-top box to rival the likes of the Google Chromecast and Apple TV, the company have finally unveiled their Amazon Fire TV a their press event today.

The Amazon Fire TV box is yet to have a price released but expect it to be priced very competively, maybe even undercutting the Chromecast.

Despite rumours suggesting Amazon may opt for a dongle-like form factor, the Amazon Fire TV is actually a box similar to the Apple TV and comes bundled with Netflix, Pandora, Hulu Plus, Crackle, and more.

The Amazon Fire TV features a quad-core processor and a dedicated GPU, 2GB of RAM, MiMO dual-band WiFi, and supports 1080p streaming.

In addition, Amazon Fire TV also has voice search which can be used to speak into the paired Bluetooth remote.

With a sleek looking interface and a form factor that rivals the design of the Chromecast and Apple TV, could Amazon be on to a winning formula with their Fire TV?
