We’re back with another short roundup of apps and services which have recently added support for Google’s Chromecast. If you’re in the market for something new to try with your Chromecast then here’s some of the freshest fruit on the tree.

  • QPlay – Lets users discover, play, and share personalized streams of Internet video from sources such as Yahoo, Vine, College Humor, Funny or Die, Discovery, and YouTube. Recently updated to include support for hashtags. Formerly offered in conjunction with its own hardware, QPlay has moved into a software-based service. Let’s hope this means the Android app gets here quickly!
  • SnagFilms – Watch thousands of films from a variety of categories, including documentaries, comedies, dramas and thrillers. Free (ad-supported) and easy to use, the library features handpicked films, and recommendations; plenty of stuff that’s not found on Netflix or YouTube. iTunes
  • RedditCaster – The newest of the bunch, it’s a barebones way of casting slideshow of image links from any subreddit. Users can show/hide captions (post titles), adjust placement and size of captions, and some other features. Future options are reported to include playing albums, video links as slideshows, and support for multiple accounts.
